Air Quality in the area surrounding the Airport is affected by a wide range of emission sources, the most significant of which is road traffic pollution from local roads and the motorway network. However, Airport operations cause emissions which can also impact local air quality. Our aim is to ensure the Airport does not cause Air Quality emission exceedances in the region, and to work proactively to reduce emissions at the Airport.

Regional Air Quality Information and Resources
We’re also keen to work in partnership with organisations such as the West Midlands Combined Authority to improve knowledge and understanding of air quality in our region. Their free air quality forecast and alert service provides advance warning of when air pollution is expected to be higher than usual, up to three days ahead. If you are interested in learning more, you may wish to undertake their Air Quality Literacy training, while if you are a teacher, a range of resources has been created to help raise awareness of air pollution and to highlight simple, positive things we can all do to reduce it.
